For the past 12 years, met us on the road.. Leaving New York City to go to our weekend home in Connecticut. It was the trip towards a much needed rest from our work week; it was our retreat; it was out vacation..
We either ate first and hit the road after rush hour or leave the city early, try to beat the traffic and ate somewhere north. Either way, Friday night was driving night.
Now with a teenage daughter, we accomodate her “dates” with friends and stay in the city on Friday nights, then leave on Saturday mornings.
Most friends think it’s a hassle but when I fall asleep in the fluffy king-sized bed and wake up to the sounds of bird chirping at my window, while sunlight streams through the over head trees, driving at night seems all worth it….
Hug your family today. Tomorrow is an unknown..
