Day 311/365 – UWVC Art Show

With the Nor”Easter baring down on us, the UWVC held its Gallery Opening Art Show, at The General Societyof Mechanics & Tradesmen of the City of New York last night.

We had about 100 guest come out and view the art from alll branches of the military. Rear Admiral Poulin, from the USCG, was on hand, representing Admiral Papp, the Commandant of the USCG. Commissioner Terrance Holliday, Mayor of Veterans Affairs. Col. Hunter Holliday, from the DOD and the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War. Along with Mr. Vince McGowan, Founding  resident of the UWVC & Mr Harvey Bagg, Chairman of the UWVC. It was a great night and all had a good time. The evening started by the singing of our National Anthem, by Ms. Michelle Dellafave, who toured with Bob Hope during his USO Tours.

The pieces were done by Military Service Men and Women and I believe the theme was “Before and After”.. Well, you can’t fully understand the concept unless you walked in their shoes. Some of the pieces weren’t “picasso type standard” but the message it conveyed was heart breaking and all you want to do is hug these men and women and say “Thank You!! Thank you for Serving.”

I am very honored and humbled to be part of these Events. So please, if you see a Uniformed Service Man or Woman, instead of asking to take a photo with him/her, say Thank You, ask their name and maybe, then maybe ask if you could take a photo with them. (food for thought)
